NOTE ABOUT MY DESIGN:

“And The Drum” was a site-specific immersive theater project staged in the poet’s actual home in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The performance for twelve audience members started with a dinner party and then expanded into a collage of poetry, movement, and theater, as various guests were pulled by performers into different areas of Martha’s house. I chose to build my design entirely with diagetic lighting sources in which the performers controlled all aspects of lighting inside and outside the house. I carefully curated colors, intensities, and fixtures to create a fluid design that evolved with the emotional and narrative arc of the piece.
